Y! IndexTools – Add New Web Analytics Accounts Feature reactivated!

- by Dennis R. Mortensen. Friday, June 13, 2008 email  print   share

Hi, there has been a bit of a, Yahoo IndexTools Web Analytics for Free, debate over at the Yahoo Web Analytics Forum and also a splendid post by Eric Peterson (which is where I got the hilarious blog picture from) - about WHEN we will be FREE for all.

We sent out the below message on the 12th of June, which take us to STEP B – first step was to make it FREE for all of our existing clients and partners.

Check out the message in full below:

Dear X,

As you know we were recently acquired by Yahoo! and subsequently went free with our service. In order to ensure that there was no adverse effect on our data collection and subsequent ability to provide real-time web analytics we deactivated the ‘Add New Account’ function for our partners. We here at IndexTools are now pleased to announce that the ‘Add New Account’ function has been reactivated on your partner account, but with some limitations.

Why the need for limitations?

Please bear in mind that our current server capacity was based on our original projections according to where IndexTools expected to be in 2008 in regards to volume and revenue. The acquisition by Yahoo! rendered this forecast obsolete. Our number one responsibility is to ensure that our existing partners and clients are not negatively impacted by an oversubscription of accounts on the IndexTools system. These limitations will be reviewed in the coming months.

So, what are these limitations?

• You will be limited to three projects per client account—should you require more than three please contact your account manager
• We are limiting the monthly page volume to 20 million page views/month for the immediate future (this limit is per client account); data collection will occur up to that 20 million page view mark, but not beyond
• You will be able to add 5 accounts within a 30-day period ( based on former invoicing period)
• Note: all new accounts will be created as Enterprise accounts from this day forward—furthermore, as there are no longer fees there is no longer any need for trial accounts

Remind me how I do this again?

1. To get start, please login to your partner account using your username and password: https://partners.indextools.com
2. Click on the Manage Accounts tab
3. Click on the Add New Account button
4. Fill in details (all fields are required)
5. Please be sure to tick off the ‘Accept’ box
6. To check if your account was successfully added please return to your Manage Accounts tab

We’re happy to put you back in charge of your partner accounts and are of course pleased to continue our partnership.

Kind regards,
Your IndexTools Account Management Team

It’s great to see that acquisition process hasn’t been that long. As a CEO of excisting IndexTools partner, I’m more than happy to discuss about (web) analytics with Finnish (Nordic) companies. : )

So is there a plan to make IndexTools part of something free for everyone, like Google Analytics?
